Kazakhstan and France agree to train engineering students jointly

A Center of Technological Excellence will be established at Nazarbayev University. It will become possible due to the memorandum on joint training of Kazakhstani undergraduates in engineering majors, which was signed on November 29 during the official visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to France.

Nazarbayev University, the University of Lorraine (Universite de Lorraine ) and three French companies, TotalEnergies, Alstom  and Air Liquide signed the tripartite memorandum of cooperation. The official signing ceremony took place during the Kazakh-French Business Forum in Paris with the participation of the heads of state of the two countries. Shigeo Katsu, President of Nazarbayev University, Vassilios Tourassis, Vice Provost for Industry Relations, Dean of the School of Engineering and Digital Science, and Aliya Kaimoldinova, Head of the Office of Global Relations, took part in the official signing ceremony. On the part of the University of Lorraine, the memorandum was signed by Karl Tombret, it is Vice President for European and International Strategy.

This document also opens the possibility of an exchange of undergraduate students. Kazakhstani students can study at the University of Lorraine and get acquainted with this educational institution’s technological knowledge and experience. Moreover, most importantly, engineering master’s students will be able to do production or research internships at French companies represented in the Kazakhstan market. Internships in companies will provide students with practical experience and create conditions for possible employment.
